    I needed something similar when using a Mamiya RotoFrame Flash Bracket w/ left handle electric AF, Meter & shutter release cable in handle. The Nikon version pistol grip 2 cable was just a combined. All on in the 10 pin socket but I needed a separate AF start so made my own to adapt to the Mamiya 646 AF-D cable Awesome wireless fix

    Very good info , quite logical actually I knew there had to be a way, hinge is it 👌 . My question. Is I have an original ( light water damage towards the edges )1950’sJapanese print (woodblock ) I would like to frame it & am thinking the method use could work. Do you think this archival tape,& foam board or a thinner backing board would work? I know because of the damage it is work a bit less( I purchased it knowing thus) but the colors etc. Were so beautiful& vibrant. I just want to do the best to preserve it correctly. Thankyou ,, Jeannehushpupmom ( sorry I am not on Facebook or Twitter )

    I can't believe I have had the D810 for over a year now and I've never even used this feature. To be honest, as embarrassing as this is to admit, I think I forgot it had this feature!! I've almost never used the video functions on this camera because I find the focus is a bit slow. I have been using the GoPro for timelapse and hyperlapse photography recently. Thanks for reminding to get back to the real thing! LOL Awesome time-lapse, all of them, by the way. Beautiful scenery. Wish I lived or traveled where you are!

    You tell people to use an archival pen to sign the print on the back, and you are using a Pilot gel pen (not archival), nor you are using the cotton gloves you recommend. Be consistent.

      I agree, and the hinge method is as he said for a bordered print, here since it is borderless, he can use small acid free corners L shaped to make sure this invaluable print does not come in touch with the damn adhesive he slapped on the back, IF HE is to use the hinge method it will be better off using the Japanese tape with wheat starch that is totally natural and has no damn adhesives even if it is "archival" tape.

      Hey, thanks! No, the D850 is heavier than the D750 by a little bit. However, I have it rigged on my shoulder strap so that my tripod supports it during the hike. Not too bad!

    wow! looks magical, I don't think there is any place in Australia like that. I wish it was just sheep roaming around here, are there any critters (snakes etc) you have to watch out for?

    • @JoshuaCrippsPhoto
      @JoshuaCrippsPhoto 5 років тому

      Yeah man, the Sierra Nevada are pretty unique.... though similar to the Pyrenees in the Europe in some ways. There certainly are a TON of critters out here, from snakes to deer to bears and cougars. Nothing specifically dangerous though unless you provoke them.

    It is a lot easier to get Giardia than people realize. I worked in the Mammoth Ranger District of the Inyo National Forest for ten years and know of some very remote springs where some of our wilderness rangers picked it up. It has been found in springs on the side of the Grand Tetons that require long, technical climbs to reach. It isn't easy to get rid of either and people suffer for awhile. The ultra light hiking trend I see has some real negatives. If you use a filter that needs a battery then you should be carrying enough spare batteries to replace every battery in every device you are carrying in your pack. This includes flashlights, headlamps and filters. I also carry spare bulbs for all my lights. You should also have an alternative means of water purification in your pack as well. I carry the small tablets, one for purification and one to take the bad taste out of the water. I've had to assist unprepared people both on and off the job for decades so I've seen the importance of carrying enough gear for contingencies. We've had several search and rescues of late in the Mammoth area involving people who weren't carrying enough gear for the circumstances. To me it's a wonder more people don't die.
